Question:

Why are my baby's teeth turning yellow???

I have an 8 month old baby girl who has 10 teeth. First tooth came in late in her third month, 10th started poking through last week. A week ago I noticed that one of her front top teeth was yellow! Then today I noticed the one next to it turning yellow too!!! Why? I know not to let her go to sleep with a bottle. As soon as she started getting teeth I started wiping them with a wash cloth before bedtime. She does sort of drift into la la land while suckling the bottle at night, but under my supervision, I pull it out and wipe her gums shortly after she falls asleep. I've spoken to a dentist and to her pediatrician and was told to have her drink water after each bottle to wash away any formula, and to brush with a non-flouridated toddler toothpaste before bedtime, so I've been doing that for a few days now, but now the other tooth turned yellow! Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks!

  1. So, if you talked to your dentist about this then why didn't you ask him why they are turning yellow?

  2. Hi,

I think the most important thing to start with is to get your baby into a good sleep routine.  I had massive problems with getting my 4 month old son to sleep.  He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again!  Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!

It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting James into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!

Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.

    Good luck!
