Question:

Why are my clothes covered with lint after i wash them?

Well i don't do the laundry, my mother does. I have a bunch of cotton tanks and tees from Hollister and they all get these tiny fuzzy lint balls stuck on the side/back of them. I end up having to shave the lint off lol. Even lint brushes won't get them off.

So i'm wondering what is causing lint to form on my clothes? And should i just handwash my clothes from now on?

  1. The_divine_bubbablue is right.

    You can minimise it though.

Use a wool cycle and don't wash them with coarse things like denim.  In other words... be gentle!

  2. One thing that makes clothes pill is the fabrics rubbing against one another in the machine.  Put your more delicate things in a pillowcase when you wash them.

  3. does she clean the filter, This use to happen to my black pants, so she wound turn them inside out and wash them and dry them. You should also check,it might be collecting lint from the dryer.Or she might be mixing clothing that gives off lint with the other clothing.

  4. Put 2 tennis balls in with ur laundry

  5. put the precious clothes into a pillow slip and tie it up, good for cardigans and jumpers

  6. put tennis ball that wat my mom does and it really work =]

  7. This is happening because clothing marketed to teens, even brand names, are very shoddily made. Cheap fabrics tend to pill like this when machine-washed.

Manufacturers know that teenagers are more interested in being trendy and cool than they are in getting value for money. They therefore see no need to provide quality; they buy the cheapest fabrics and have the clothing manufactured in the cheapest way possible, then sell their clothing at inflated prices, surrounding it (and you) with tons of advertising designed to make you think that their clothing is cool and trendy. You're the one who loses out.

Handwashing will slow down the decay, but don't blame your mother: she didn't decide to make a tee out of five cents' worth of fabric and sell it for $20 or more.
