Question:

Why are my contact lenses clouded?

I am 14 years old (not sure if that matters)

I wear 30 day contact lenses, it's the first time I do. I have worn them for some days, usually taking them out before the night. The reason is they get clouded after some time. Usually a bit of blinking helps, but sometimes they get clouded a lot. I actually have to take them out and clean them. I mean the point of them is that I shouldn't have to take them out... Is there a solution to this, or do I have to live with it?

  1. Maybe its cause they are dry and you need to put contact safe eyedrops.Which you can find in a pharmacy or wamart stores like that hope this helps: )

  2. that happens to me to sometimes.

just clean them with what you soke them in at night before you put them in your eyes:]

  3. get some eye drops and take them with you wherever you go. the lens could just be getting dry

  4. The cloudiness is caused by protein building up on your lenses. That means that they are not getting cleaned properly and are being worn too much. What brand do you wear? Just because they say 30-day wear doesn't mean that you can sleep in them. It means that they can be work DAILY for up to 30 days, but you have to take them out at night and let them soak in cleaner to get cleaned properly. Tell me what brand your contacts are and I can give you more detail on how to get the cloudiness to go away. This is what I do for a living so it is no trouble.

*Edit* Dry eyes will cause some blurriness, but not the cloudiness that you are describing. The eye drops might help a little, but they won't make the problem go away.

*Edit* Purevision contacts are approved for overnight wear, but only on a weekly basis. So you can either wear your contacts for a month and take them out every night or you can wear them for a week straight. If you choose the weekly method you have to put a new pair in every week, which can get expensive.

Make sure that you are giving your lenses enough time to soak in the solution you use. If the cloudiness still occurs, try rubbing you contacts with the solution for a few seconds every night. If you are still having a problem with the protein buildup see your doctor and try another brand. We have had a few patients who wear Purevision come in and complain of protein buildup, just like you.

If you are still wanting a contact lens that you can wear for 30 days and nights try Ciba's Focus Night & Day.

I hope I helped. Good Luck!

*Edit* If you have a new pair put those in instead of the ones you are currently wearing. Once the protein buildup is on there it is harder to get rid of. If not, oh well I guess you just have to wear what you have. If you happen to fall asleep in these contacts it shouldn't cause too much issues. Just try not to do it too often, okay. You should be fine.

  5. dont sleep ın them at all always take them out b4 u got to sleep or else they get really dry and theır hard to take out and thats from only 2-3 hours of sleepıng my eye doctor told me ıts possıble to go blınd from sleepıng wıth them

  6. First of all the blurry or the clouded thing you see... it happens because your eyes and contacts dry faster. it probably happens more when you are outside. Dont worry about it.. Try using drops to wet them a little or you can get a different brand of contacts. The sleeping part I dont think its a good idea you can sleep in them only if you clean them in the morning. I rather take them off for the night because if you wear them for a long period of time like 3 weeks the proetins will grow on them instead of your eyes. So if you wear them for 3 weeks and than you take them off your eyes will feel really irritated.

Another thing if the clouded thing happens alot to only one of your eyes it can also be a contact that was manufactured wrong. Try another pair and if that wont help just use drops during the day.. or buy different contacts :)

    I hope I helped..

    good luck
