Why are my contacts still uncomfortable/ not adjusted?

I have hard contacts, they supposedly easier to clean and they give a clearer image. The optometrist said they'll feel more natural after 2 weeks...I got them half a year ago and I hate wearing them because theyre so bad. You can tell theyre uncomfortable- I can't stop blinking, they make my eyes puffy, and they make my eyes look funny when I look up/to the sides. Anyone else with hard contacts? Especially anyone that have the same problems?

  1. The common problem with contacts is that they do feel unnatural and uncomfortable. Many people complain of irritation, dryness, and redness. I don't wear hard contacts but I would suggest that you go back to your optometrist since you can't go on like this for much longer. I suggest soft contact lense as I was told by my doctor that they are healthier for the eyes than hard contacts in the long run. Also, I would also recommend you buying the silicone hydrogel which is a new thing out that offers more oxygen to the cornea and reduce discomfort and dryness.

  2. Probably you're not giving your eyes enough rest from the contacts. Sometimes it's not healthy to use them a lot. Or maybe you have an infection or your body is rejecting them. I wear hard contacts and they bother me all the time, so I just take a rest from using them, and when I start using them again they're comfortable again.

  3. I would have thought he would have given you soft disposable contacts. I don't have hard contacts but I would return them or go to another optician.

  4. Sounds like they are not the right fit to your eye.  I would think that hard lenses would need to be fitted better.  My optician gave me three different soft ones to try on at the office.  I did not try hard ones but I would assume they would have different curvature and sizes.  It might also be possible that your eyes are too dry.  Have your tear ducts checked too.  I usually wear glasses but can get by for ~8 hours no problem when I wear the lenses.
