Question:

Why are my eyelashes falling out?

For the past couple of months I have noticed that my eyelashes are falling out. It started when just one or two a day on both eyes would fall out when I curled them to put mascara on. Now, on my right eye, I have no eyelashes on the right half of my upper eyelid, and the other half there are hardly any there whatsoever. On the other eye its not as bad, however I have patches of total baldness and where there is hair its thinned.

I've changed my eyelash curlers, my mascara and eye makeup in case there was some kind of infection on them. I've never had this before at all and there is nothing different about my makeup routine.

Its only the eyelashes on the upper lid that are falling out, not on the lowerlid, which makes me think that it is something to do with the makeup I use.

But I've changed all the makeup I use, I've gone without using makeup (admittedly only for a short time as I have blonde eyelashes so they need mascara on to look good! And I do wear it everyday when I work, but I've not worn it over the weekends)

What can I do??? I'm having to wear false eyelashes!! :-(

  1. I knew a girl with the same problem and it was a result of malnutrition due to an eating disorder.

    Are you eating well ?

  2. do you pick at your eyelashes? do you have an eating disorder? do you use waterproof mascara? all of these things could be the problem. i would recommend seeing a doctor. if you have abnormal amounts of stress this could also be it. also, your eyelash curler could be doing the trick. it doesn't matter what kind of eyelash curler, if you press down too hard, it could be loosening them and causing them to fall out.

stop using the eyelash curler first. if the problem consists, see a doctor, or stop using eye makeup till they grow back.

    good luck

  3. Just leave it like dat for a while ..

Its not as bad lookin as having blonde eyelashes than havin NO eyelashes

So , i suggest .. just dont put on any mascara n do not use eyelashes curler at all

Like somebody mentioned .. mayb its cos of an eating disorder or smth ..

    Anyways , good luck !

  4. Tell them to make up then

  5. Are you wearing waterproof mascara all the time by any chance?? Horribly drying for the lashes - try giving them just a fine fine sweep of vaseline at bedtime - softens and conditions them.

  6. You probably need to be more gentle with your eyelash curlers.

I have blonde eyelashes too and get them tinted at my hairdressers, it is reasonably inexpensive and you don't have to buy mascara ever again. I get it redone every time I get my hair cut.
