Why are my eyes so sensitive to light?

I just recently went back to contacts after a 3 month break. Today I got a new prescription and new contacts. When I put them in my eyes are super sensitive to light. It seems like my eyes aren't dilating correctly. Is this normal? Should I just give my eyes more time to adjust to contacts?
