Question:

Why are my eyes swollen and puffy?

Just about an hour ago my eyes were itching a little, so I did the usual, I rubbed my eyes. But they got really swollen and puffy on the bottom of both eyes suddenly. I have two ideas on what caused it, but I'm not too sure.

I think it could be either from some mascara I had on or it could've been from the river I went to today. Probably?

I took Benadryl 30 minutes ago and I don't feel it getting any better. I put ice on my eyes and its not helping.

What can I do? And how long will it take to feel better? Help please :(

  1. Don't rub your eyes any more.  It is only going to make them feel worse.

Just lay down and keep them closed.  If the Benadryl hasn't helped in 30 minutes it probably isn't going to give you much relief, and it probably isn't allergy related.

If you see any signs of "goo"  coming from your eyes after 30 to 45 min of rest, then you should get to the doc it could be the start of conjunctivitis and you want to catch that QUICK!

  2. chemical exposure

  3. Try cucumber slices on eyes for about 15 minutes.

Take hot used tea bags...let them cool off & put one over each eye till they get cold...they should pull out the puffiness.

Take 2 Advil or Aleve to reduce inflammation

    Should take about 1 hour.

    Feel better
