Why are my fig trees casting their fruit? They are large and healthy looking.?

What do you mean by "casting their fruit"? We have a Turkish fig tree and the fruit is still green and should be ripe by 1st or 2nd wk in July. They need to be harvested quickly upon ripening or else the birds and the bugs take them over.
