I have guppies, mollies, tetras but mosty livebearers. Some of my guppy will nip at the live plants that are in my tank. It seems that they are eating it. Is there anyway to stop it?

  1. No, these fish eat a lot of plant material in the wild...it's quite natural. You could try purchasing plants that grow quickly...with adequate light elodea and hornwort, for example, will grow faster than they can be eaten!

  2. Guppies are primariily insectivores, so the little the nibble at your plants shouldn't hurt.   The may just think they see a mini bug or tetra egg.on the plant and are trying to get it.

The only way to stop it is take out the plant or the offending fish.

  3. Your fish eating the plants is actually a good thing. It's good for both fish and the plant. Nothing to worry about. =]

  4. No and you don't want to realy, this is good for them and they need this in their diet so your doing a good job...get more plants. (cheaper)

  5. take the plant out

  6. cuz you dont feed them! duh!

  7. AHHHHH! THAT MEANS THEY ARE GOING TO DIE. THEY ARE GOING TO DIE OF PLANT POISING. THEY MAY EAT THIS IN THIS "WILD" AS THEY CALL IT! BUT IT KILLS THEM! TAKE THE PLANTS OUT!!! TAKE ME OUT!!
