Ok, I'm on disability and i receive about $630 a month BUT...... My food stamp benefits are only $11 a month..... I am a full time student, and I do receive housing assistance that totals about $375 a month.. My state of residence is Kentucky..

If it weren't for a small food basket every month, All I would eat would be ramen noodles..

Can someone please tell me why??

  1. i live in Australia and we don't have a food stamp system. Our country just puts amounts into peoples accounts and hopes they don't spend it on drugs and alcohol.

I found a website though http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10101.html it had some info on food stamps. You could possibly talk to someone and see if it is the right amount. It seems pretty low (extremely low). Maybe it is that way to encourage people to have a go and try to earn an income, but since you are on disability i thought it would be higher. I'm really not sure. but try to talk to someone to find out what you should be getting. there is a link at the bottom of the website to estimate an amount to receive.

Hope that helped a tiny bit :)

  2. be thankful for what the government has given to you by taking it out of hard working peoples pockets. you are a modern day king getting something for absolutely nothing. stop complaining

  3. It is a fine line.  You want to help people, but you don't want the help to be so good that there is no incentive for those receiving them to get on their own two feet.

  4. I have to pay for everything myself. And I have to do that with the money left over after the government steals a big share to give to people like you. Learn to live on what you get. Life is tough. Good luck.

  5. you're being screwed by the government. You are not the first and will definately not be the last!

  6. Must be because those in charge feel you are already receiving enough of the taxpayers money.  You are disabled but are able enough to be a full-time student?  Perhaps they think you're able enough to earn some money.

  7. Let's think about this for a minute.  You can afford a computer and an internet service but you can't afford food?  I think your priorities are all messed up.  By the way, you didn't say you were disabled, you said you were on disability.  Why not use your computer to earn some income and quit looking to the state to make your life what you want it to be or what you think it should be?

  8. It has not kept up with the cost of living.  It was not adjusted for the increase in price of transportation etc.  People have criticized that food stamps are to low.
