Why are my glasses peeling off?

I am using glasses for 23 years now and since I have started getting anti reflection coating they have been peeling off every two years, so I have been replacing. This year I said enough is enough and bought glassed without anti reflection coating. After 6 months they are again peeling off what can be the reason. How can I prevent this from happening? Can I ask optician to cover the expenses of replacing my glasses?

  1. Maybe there is an anti-scratch coating on your lenses and that is what is coming off.

  2. Are you using the wrong kind of cleaner?  Never use anything like detergent on them. DO ask your doc. to recomend a cleaner.  It is sold in the eye doc. office most of the time.

  3. I had this problem as well and finally just stopped getting the anti reflective coating.  It may have been due to our hard water which I used to rinse the glasses.  Maybe to the hard water and rubbing them to hard to clean them.  The doc replaced them a few times.  Finally I gave up.

  4. It sounds like they're having trouble applying the coating.

Get your glasses somewhere else or online.

Once you have your prescription you can order so much cheaper on the web.
