  1. I've had the same problem my hammies started fighting too. I had to buy a second cage. The Pet Store Lady told me they fight for space.

  2. ive heard u cant put any hamsters ever together

  3. This sometimes happens with hamsters. Although dwarf hamsters are supposed to be 'community' hamsters, it doesn't always work out that way.

They can sometimes get on for a few weeks before fighting, sometimes it could be a few months. If you're lucky, they can live without fighting at all but, a lot of people find that their hamsters will fight at some point.

If they are fighting agressively enough to pull out fur and draw blood then they need to be separated.

I would buy another cage and keep them apart from now on. As long as you provide them both with lots of attention and toys they won't mind living on their own. It will be less stressful for them than fighting all the time.

  4. well if they only did it once then i wouldn't worry too much cuz they probably just got in a little disagreement and got over it. but it their doing it all the time, i would buy a new cage.

  5. first of all never buy animals from petsmart ever again.

and if you do not put hamsters together right when you get both of them at the same time then one of them will get territorial and fight, one of them will end up dying. So please keep them seperated, put them in seperate cages so that they can interact between the cages so none of them get hurt, and then later on try putting them together. But they get very territorial no matter what so dont keep them together. Buy another cage and put them next to eachother. and that bloody spot was a chunk of fur ripped out by the other one biting it, so you do not want them to continue to fight. They wont be sad if they're seperated because they wont be fighting anymore. Hamsters are naturally not meant to be together anyway, but make sure you wait a little while before trying to put them back with eachother again.

  6. It is veryyyyyyy bad to put 2 dwarf hamsters in the same cage!!! They fight alot! Dont do it again!!! put them in 2 differnet cages!

  7. Um.. i had this exact same problem and i know this is going to sound weird but they are mating my hamsters were both girls i thought. and i had them for awhile like a half a year. and then they started to fight.

I bought a new cage and put one of them in it and then a couple days later it had baby's. I know its weird because they are bleeding but that's what happened to mine too! Hurry separate them even though i think its too late! congrats. you will have more hamsters lol.

  8. Well, first of all, PetSmart's animals tend to be strange in the behavior range. I don't know why, but everytime I've gone to PetSmart, my hamsters acted evil or strange, like that, by fighting or biting me.

I think that you should get another cage. They won't be sad, they'll be fine. The one that gets more injuries will be happy to be away from fighting.

Dwarf hamsters don't tend to do this, it's weird. To be on the safe side, I'd seperate them. You can let them play together outside of their cages by keeping a good eye on them, if you'd like. Good luck! ^-^

  9. Yes, your only option is to buy another cage. If you bought them together, and they were really young when you got them, they shouldnt of been fighting. But there is always that 1/3 chance. You need to seperate them. I know they were fine at first, but now that they have grown up, they have gotten more territorial. So a seperate cage is the way to handle this. Good luck!

And they wont be sad if they are seperated.
