It is a new pond, about a week old. its about 500 gallons We used the water treatments, and conditioner as well as salts. all the filters are properly set up and working fine. I hope they are just getting acquainted with their new home.

  1. Well, it could be due to the temperature of the pond, if it is below 10 degrees C, then they will go into "sleep" mode and be inactive, it also sounds as though there is a problem with oxygen in the pond, what size pump have you got on there?

    Hope this helps.

  2. The pond is only 500 gallons and you have more than one Koi Carp in there? That could be problem number one. Koi need about 1000 gallons per fish... These guys get HUGE.

Also, ponds need to cycle just like fish tanks - the nitrogen cycle will need to happen there, and if the pond is about a week old, with that type of stocking level (multiple Koi in only 500 gallons), you're probably pretty high on ammonia right about now, which will stress (and eventually kill) the Koi...

  3. They could be sick so they're just layin around. But if it's cold, they are laying around the pump area because it is warm.

  4. first does your pond got filters?  how deep is your pond is it outdoor?

Shallow water with high heat could be a problem.

    Overstocked koi also a problem.

Probably your kois are newly bought and not yet being conditioned?

  5. Sounds like your water still needs to cure some.. They may prefer the water quality near the filter or it may be the current of water there that they are enjoying.  But pls let us know, when you pick a best answer, how your fish are doing then.  Hope they will be enjoying everything you've tried to give them.
