i have two male rats, charlie and socrates, and they are about 6 or 7 months old now, until recently they where in a smaller cage (i was making their big cage), and one of my rats, socrates, was getting scratches and bites on his body, 2 days ago i found a deep gash in his back leg, so i moved them into a bigger cage thinking they would have more space to play and they wouldnt fight so much, i took them both out today and socrates ( the one that keeps getting bitten) now has two new gashes in his leg and one big on on his neck and charlie (who has been aggressive since i got him, and got his name because of the charlie bit me video) his brother doesnt have a scratch on him. I moved charlie to the smaller cage to let socrates rest and heal himself (im taking him to the vet for the cut in his neck cause he wont let me look) but i was wondering if anyone knows why my rats are fighting like this, or why charlie is being so mean and dominant over socrates, and why isnt socrates sticking up for himself??? i really need help cause i dont want to wake up in the morning and find socrates dead (hes my baby, charlie is my brothers) please please pleaseee i need to do something. thankyou!!

  1. I have two male baby rats. they were litter mates, but separated for a few days, they are now in the same cage and are fighting a bit. they seem like they are just play fighting, but i'm concerned for both of them. neither of them has hurt the other, and they don't squeal like they are in pain. should i separate them? or just let them get used to eachother again?
