I play football and after each training session my groin muscles and thighs on both legs are always sore. They hurt to touch as well as when i walk. I played a match on sunday and the same result has occur ed but intensified. why is this? i warm up and cool down before and after exercise and where underarmour on my legs to keep the muscles warm. i also drink milk afterwards as i source of protein. Help! i am about to begin training each day but at this rate will hardly be able to walk. i am concerned. do i need to build up my muscles more-i am a very slight build, or are there better stretches i should do or food/drink i should eat? Thanks

  1. Have you tried a massage or 'rub down' after training?

  2. That's totally normal. Its your muscle fibers building. Milk is not protein though. After exercising eat a protein bar, or drink a protein shake. Obviously best case scenario would be to go home and actually eat dinner, but if you can't do that, grab a protein bar. Also, make sure when you stretch before practice, you aren't just following routine. Actually stretch and make sure you feel it, don't just go through the motions.

  3. The muscles are sore because they are not used to the exercise they are getting, training everyday will help

  4. Hello,

(ANS) When muscles, any muscles are exercised or perhaps over exercised. The muscle as a side effect of burning energy produces LACTIC ACID i.e. side effect of metabolism. It definitely is this lactic acid that remains in the muscle that causes the soreness. This is a well known & documented fact for any serious athlete, it needs to be considered and worked with & planned for.

**Talk to any sports trainer or sport coach and they should know about this and the best techniques to help deal with it. Its more obvious any time from within 24rhs to 48hrs after intense exercising.

  5. Whenever you exercise you exert a strain on your muscles. This causes the muscle to tear. That is the beginning of muscle growth and strength. The key points you'll need to know are the following:

Amino Acids are the building blocks of the protein that make up your muscle fibers. You need to eat and eat often. Make sure you have a good source of protein with each meal. Try to eat at regular times and space them apart.

Sleep. This is one of the biggest problems. Your body repairs your muscles while you sleep. Not while you're awake. If you don't sleep enough or get the right amount of protein, you'll be in trouble. You can actually damage your muscles more. I recommend eating light directly after a work out (or taking a protein shake) and taking a nap about an hour later.

If you still see that you're having difficulty with your recovery time. I've heard that muscle armor is a great product to help recovery.

  6. What you are feeling is usually a sign of over-worked muscles...but in your case, I would try to stretch more effectively! Just make sure that you are getting a good stretch in before and after practice and perhaps a few times during the day when you know you are about to go in for practice.

  7. When you exercise, you tear your muscles, that's why they hurt, when you tear them, they grow back stronger and bigger, to say simply. I'm guessing you don't take time to rest between exercising/ lifting weights. Take a day or two to let your muscles recover. For example (Day 1:Work your arms. Day 2: rest. Day 3: Legs Day 4: rest Day 5 : chest....etc) Also when working out try using different methods each time, it's called muscle confusion, basically it makes sure your muscles don't get used to doing something so it keeps them working hard.
