  1. Small birds are very nervous - I've had four budgies (parakeets) and none ever got too friendly. Try hand feeding until they trust you enough to jump on your hand to eat from your palm (I find broccoli florets perfect for this).

  2. everyday try to put your finger in the cage and speak ently to them and say setup just keep trying ,,good luck

  3. They don't need a human. They are bonding with each other. When you have one, you can get it used to you easier, and let it out of the cage, and it will come and fly on your shoulder. Four are very content with each other. You may have to be content just enjoying them playing with each other. Unless you raise them from babies, you are not likely to tame four at a time. Hope you get some helpful answers.

  4. i have parakeets too.

i used to have one, and she used to sit on my finger and everything.

then wen we got another one, she stopped and they both bite me and look scared as h**l.

i think its because wen u put 2 or more together, they only interact with each other not with u.

try seperating one and see wat happens after a while

  5. 4 parakeets will interact with each other and not you. If you wanted a bird that you could interact with you should have gotten one. But if you really wanna interact with them put them ALL in separate cages.

  6. Even with one parakeet/budgerigar, he or she would still be scared of you after just a month. It usually takes a budgie about 2-3 months (including training) to get used to its owner. As you have 4 birds, it will take a LOT longer for you to train them as they will only be interested in interacting with each other. Please don't separate ANY of them as this will distress the birds (as they are so used to being together), and will cause further problems. Have patience, and eventually they might come around. If not then you'll probably just have to get used to little interaction.

  7. Yes you should stop trying to handle them and learn to enjoy them being happy without you putting your hands on them. You have wild birds, and parakeets are the hardest breed of birds to tame even when you hand feed them as babies. If you want a hand tamed bird I suggest finding a breeder in your area who hand feeds their babies to raise them tamed, and get one from them. Otherwise don't make putting your hands on your birds in a tamed way on their part, so important to you that you get your feelings hurt when your birds do not act the way you want them to. You have got to understand these birds are still getting used to living with you and were not raised tamed, so respect them and love enough to leave them alone. Then sit back and watch how happy YOU have made them by respecting their space.
