My parakeets mated and she laid 5 eggs about 25 days ago, shes been laying on them and comes out sometimes for a little to eat or the male will feed her but so far no little ones have hatched. Today I noticed she came out and started mating again and went back in to lay on the eggs. Anyone know whats going on? Is there a chance that the five eggs she laid could hatch still?

  1. i think you should stop watching bird p**n.

  2. Your first baby should hatch in about 3 more days then a baby will hatch every day after that. so there will be 5 days between the oldest and the youngest . That's the way Budgies breed . Yes they have to mate for each egg . As soon as the babies have feathers remove your nest box or they will start another clutch of eggs. Remove any unhatched eggs . Hey congrats ! If you ever wanted a talking parakeet now is your chance take on as soon as it can eat own it's own and put it in a place where it can't hear the other birds and say the same word every day till you hear the bird say it , then build the vocabulary from there !
