Question:

Why are my shirts so wrinkly?

I have several Rayon/polyester blend shirts I paid a premium for ($50 a pop) from a store called REI. Whenever they go in the wash, they come out all super wrinkly. Even when I Iron them they are still a bit wrinkly but not quite as bad. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips to cleaning them more effectively so they come out less wrinkly. Or maybe I need a different material that is more wrinkle resistant. Our water is pretty nuetral about 7.0 something on the ph. Thanks in advance for help.

  1. I am afraid that is rayon for you.  Rayon irons easily but creases very easily too.  Still, it is a nice soft fabric so enjoy wearing them.

  2. rayon/poly blends are difficult but comfortable and look great when washed correctly follow the direction on the tag. Use cold- warm water only.  Shake them out before transferring them to a dryer. Dry in small loads with only 4-5 itemes of like material in the load,  take them out of dryer when they are "Iron damp" and iron them. or just get a poly/cotton blend they don"t look or fill quit as nice but are pretty much wash and ware

  3. Rayon can be difficult, but there are products that may help.  You could try this fabric softener in your wash - Ultra Downy Advanced for Wrinkle Control.  When you iron your shirt, spray it with Downy Wrinkle Releaser and it will be easier to iron.

  4. Maybe you are over loading the dryer?

Also for set in wrinkles (like from the dryer) lightly spritz your clothes with water before ironing.
