Why are my speakers acting weird for my 99 ZX2

Question

When I try to use my Sony explode speakers with my factory head unit they seem to get really bad but when I turn only one side up they work way better but then when I try to turn both up they sound bad. If any one has a way to make this better let me know.

Reverse the (+) and (-) connections on ONE of the two speakers, for each pair of speakers that's having this problem.
