Why are my subwoofers and amp affected by my power windows?

i installed a sub/amp in my car and wired it, when i turn the key, the sub has a hum and if i use my automatice windows the sub bumps hard, i turned the gain down and now theres not much sub action, a low hum and theres still a small bump when i use the windows....any ideas?

  1. Your system hums because it forgot the words.

    Make sure the signal feed to your amp is NOT running parallel to any wires carrying power, like perhaps those powering the windows.  If they are you will pick up humming.  Also make sure all components are grounded properly.

    It's OK to cross wires at 90 degrees, but don't run them parallel to power, and don't coil up your excess cable.  Coiling can create all kinds of interference.  A coil can sometimes magnify minor noise into a major distraction.

    The best practice is to keep all signal types separated from each other.


  2. re-run ur rca cables.. there most likely 2 close power wires somewhere.

  3. take ur RCA's more deep into ur carpet away from the window wires.
