Why are my trailing petunias so sticky every year?

Can anyone tell me why my trailing petunias are so sticky every year, I water and feed them regulary, dead heading them is like sticking to glue.

That's just the way trailing petunias are.  Even the regular kind of petunias are sort of sticky.
