Why are my two Parakeets, male and female stay in there food jar and sleep all day?

The other day they started going into their food jar and cuddling together and staying in there all day? The jar is something they can go into and you can barley see them. Is they female possibly getting ready to lay a egg? Are they sick?

It does sound a bit like nesting behaviour, but they shouldnt be living in their food container. Maybe you should try using a different food container and introducing a nesting box.

Is the cage an appropriate size for a pair of budgies and do they have enough perches and toys avaliable to them? You could try enticing them out by adding some fresh food treats, or by adding new branches for perches (leaves, flowers and fruit on a branch will make it irresistable!)

If the birds are both fluffed up and standing on both feet all the time there is a chance they could be sick- but I believe most birds stay away from sick birds- so they wouldnt normally cuddle up to each other- I think they are just enjoying each others company.
