Well, my camera seems pretty good, when I hook up my videos to my TV they look really really good. But, when I put them on Windows Movie Maker and make I publish the movie the videos are so fuzzy they look like c**p!

Any solutions?

  1. Windows movie maker is a crappy editing program.

Try finding some other free editor on the internets.

  2. Try uploading it with a higher quality.

  3. If your camcorder is hard drive based or flash-memory based it is compressing into a MPEG2 file format. Use the highest quality video capture setting if you have a choice in the camcorder's menu.

If your camcorder is DVD based it is compressing into a VOB format.

If your camcorder is analog, it is what it is...

Decompressing highly compressed video for editing on a computer will result in poor video quality. The way to get good video to upload is to not compress the video when you capture it. MiniDV tape compresses the least - so it provides the best available quality...

Another thing you might try is to not compress the video so much in MovieMaker when you "Save As..." YouTube and MySpace (and others allow 10 minutes or 100 meg for uploading... Less compression on the finished project side will help improve video quality when the file is posted.
