Why are my zucchini not dark green?

My zucchini are bearing very good but not dark green. i am in North Carolina. Plants appear to be healthy. i used same kind as last year and had bumper crops. Get plenty of water and fert. Are they still good to eat?

  1. That depends on the kind you planted. yellow light green or dark green.


  2. Did you plant a dark green variety? Zucchinis vary from almost black to pale green to yellow.

    Only you can answer the question "Are they good to eat?" They certainly won't do you any harm whatever the color and the cause.

  3. Zucchini range in color from yellow to light green to dark green depending on the variety.  I suspect yours are the lighter green type.  eat up before they take over your garden.

  4. It depends on your variety that you planted.  Some zukes are pale green, just like some cukes are.  Some are actually more pale yellow.  Don't panic.  As long as they taste good, happy eating!
