  1. Those that say conditions/disasters are stronger are basing that on what conclusive hard data?   I think it behooves us to look at the big picture.   For example,  there seems to be more complete coverage of events and also these events are sensationalized,  giving the impression that things are getting worse and worse.

  2. Because of demographic & climate changes all over the world.

  3. I actually attended the National Hurricane Conference in Orlando and they stated that global climate change with a warming trend would actually DECREASE the total number of storms over a long period of time... but it would INCREASE the intensity of those storms.

So, hurricanes are having an above average period... nothing more.  Earthquakes are no greater in number, only now we record them more frequently as communications grow.  Same with other natural disasters...

So, actually, there is no proof that natural disasters are increasing.  In fact, you would have to take a huge sample size of thousands of years to note a true increase.  All in cycles.

  4. global warming

  5. Two reasons:

Population density grows each year, so an earthquake or similar will impact more people and properties.

Global warming increases intensity of hurricanes, tornados, storms, again tied to increasing population.
