Why are news articles opening in a new browser with My Yahoo? This is NOT the preview option!

I have the 'new' my yahoo (they forced me, not my choice) and i have been able to open story links on my news modules and they open in the same browser...today all of a sudden they open in a NEW browser window. Does anyone know why???

If i click on the heading---like Reuters News, it opens in the same window and then i can go to the stories then in the same window....but if i try to access them via my yahoo page they open in a new browser....this is NOT the 'preview' option either....i disabled that when i had to switch to this version.

This is the default with the new my yahoo.  Otherwise you can select the old my yahoo.

I wish I had the answer, but I don't.  Just want to share my frustration on the same issue. Yahoo keeps adding steps to increase page views because they can't get new users with quality product.  This happened with the new mail, which now goes through an extra page view every time.  

I need to get an answer to this one soon or I think I'm bailing.  Am a 10 year user.  Is there a preferences setting for this??
