  1. I assume you are talking about Gardasil. It is nota cervical cancer vaccine it is a vaccine to prevent 4 strains of HPV. The vaccine is for females aged 9-26, so I have no idea why an 8 y/o would be getting the vaccine. Women up to the age of 26 are getting it also.

GARDASIL may not fully protect everyone, and does not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so it’s important to continue routine cervical cancer screenings.

  2. My grand daughter is 11 and has had the first shot. Here in the US girls must be getting it at a younger age.

She is in 6th grade here and the kids are 11-12 mostly.

  3. Probably want to give it before puberty starts.

I have a 8yr. old & haven't talked to he Dr. about it yet.

To tell you the truth, I'm a little afraid of it.

It's too new & I don't know that much about it.

  4. In america it's been aproved for girls age 14-21.  I don't know why they are only giving it to girls that age in England - maybe they are still approving it.

And it's actually an HPV vaccine - ask your doc if you want it.

  5. It's a new vaccine and they are just starting it now-the best age to give it is in year 8 but some older girls can request it at their doctors if they want. They'll give it to all girls (well, offer it to them) whenever they reach year 8. It's a fantastic thing and a great idea-anything that helps prevent cervical cancer is a good thing!

I'm in the Uk so less confused than everyone else who thinks you meant 8 years old not year 8 in high school!

  6. My daughter got the Gardasil shots 1 & 2 (8th grade) and she is 14.  Her 3rd shot will be while she is in 9th grade still 14yo.
