Why are parents so strict?

Why are parents so strict on what their kids and mainly us teens do like what we say,do,watch,who we hang out with and dont let make our own choices and deal with the consequences ourselves?

because we want you to be the best person you can be. because we love you and want the world for you. because we are good parents and good parents are loving and strict. sorry kiddo you won't get it for awhile but trust us on this one. its because we love you!

Im only 22 and when i was 11-16 i found my parents were quite strict and liked to know where i was, what i was doing etc which really bugged me they wer a lil less strict once id left school iv since had a daughter at 21 and i know now why they were the way they were...they wernt been strict at all they wer just caring and looking out for me...Ul understand when u have kids...Trust me ud rather have them care too much than not at all.At the moment u might not think that but u will when u get older...My daughters only 10mnths and i always say i wont be strict but even at her age now i do worry about some things...Its a cruel world out there and if ur parents didnt care then who would?? Dont be too harsh on them and dont take it too bad enjoy life,

Well, I don't know why you're generalizing parents like that.  You should have asked, "Why are SOME parents so strict?" If that's the message your parents are sending you, maybe they're not doing their job so well?

because they love you to the max and they dont want you to get pregnant at younger age that is why they are very strict on who you hang out with.. when you become a parent that is the only time you will understand your parents and you will also think that they are right.. too much freedom is bad and not love..remember that..

my parents are quite strict but its just because they are over protective(especially my dad) i can't have msn, myspace, bebo or anything like that cause they're worried that some rapist is going to meet up with me or something and i'm not that dum to do that and i'm sensible enough anyway. that's just the way they are!! i think there comes a point when your older a.k.a about bloody time when they just accept we're not little anymore we just have to wait!

I'm a juvenile correctional officer and business is good.But!  I wish more parents were strict with their kids. The choices most kids make are not good ones and they DO NOT have to deal with the consequences themselves. Parents are stuck paying the court costs and all other fees, not the children.

Parents need to know where you are at all times.

Who your friends are.

What music your listening to.

What shows/movies your watching.

You shouldn't be doing anything your parents can't know about.

It is a very tough world out there and trust me it can be painful. I was a rebel in my teen years and now that I am older and have kids I totally think my mom's toughness helped me not to get in trouble, drugs, alcohol,and so on. It will pass and yes you need to learn from your own experiences but parents do not want to see their kids suffer.. Hang in there ok. It will be better.

if parents were'nt strict imagine the chaos! my parents were strict but gave some leeway, i rebelled alot but in the end i thanked them for being like they were! me an my mum are now best friends an i couldnt imagine not having her there to guide me through the bad years!
