Why are peaches from the local farmers' market fuzzier than peaches bought in a regular grocery store?

  1. The peaches you see in the grocery store have been defuzzed so they will be smoother and look more appetizing although it really does nothing to the taste of the peach.


  2. There are hundreds of varieties of peaches.  Your local peaches are probably a different variety than the ones in the grocery store......



  3. The peaches grown in your area may also be a different variety from those shipped in from several states away..

  4. The grocery store peaches get handled so much more in picking, packing, shipping and stocking the fruit bins.
