Through out his career, Jeter has pretty much hit for average more so then HR's and RBI, though respectfully had done well. This season he is just a bit off, so everyone writes him off, and claims he is over rated. Let us remember too, that while offense sticks in most peoples minds, and stats, his defense is key as well. Not over rated, just not as powerful as most, and having an off year.

I would never say Jeter is over-rated. It is one of today's greats and a true leader.

While I would never say he is "over rated," I would say that he is "getting older."

Ok I''m a huge Tiger and Red Sox fan. And i abesolutely hate the Yankees. BUT Derek Jeter is one of the best short stops to ever play the game, behind Ozzie Smith and Cal Ripken Jr. i think. He may only have 200 home runs for his career but he hits to get on base not to smack it out of the park. He is one of the best players to ever come out of the state of Michigan and the best to ever play in Kalamazoo. Derek Jeter is not only a future Hall of Famer, he's one of the greatest ever.

Jeter is the most overrated player in baseball. He doesnt even come close to a HOF player if you ask me. People praise him for any and everything. The  ball is hit right at him he fields it like any decent player 13 years old or over and throws the ball to first, i can do that in aau baseball and no one says anything but when a 35year old mlber does this he is praised for the next 15 minutes. All he has to do is play 50 games before the allstar break no matter the production and he will be considered an allstar. People act like he has to go into the seats on certain popups but time and time again i see regular ss get over there and settle under it. He pays the price for a bad first step its not like he had to go into the stands.

Derek Jeter, captain of the greatest professional sports franchise on the planet.  A life .317 hitter with 10 division titles, 6 American League pennants and 4 World Series Championships.  Before his career is over he will surly join the 3000 hit club.  How can anyone say he's overrated?  Obviously those who make these comments, don't know what they're talking about.

What does it matter?  Jeter is everyday ball player which is all you can ask or he way underrated if you ask me.
