Why are people afraid to research what's really going on, in regard to 1-world government and New World Order?

And why should we care? Why would a 1 world government, provided the necessary precautions, be a bad thing?

As for the "New World Order"....how is it different from the old one? How was the old one? How many world orders have there been? What does the expression "world order" even mean?
