Why are people crazy about dhoni though he doesnt have any class in batting and hits ball standing on one leg

Is it not sad that people now are forgetting lights of tendulkar and ganguly. They even claim he is better tha ganguly in captiancy.

actually u r right about the class & technique of Dhoni because if we compare it with the likes of tendulkar & ganguly who r the greats of the game it seems really awakward but performance holds the key for the success of any player.It is really sad to hear that people r forgetting great players like tendulkar & ganguly but the reason behind that is their current form. If Dhoni is making runs & winning matches for India no doubt people will go crazy for  him no matter he plays the ball standing on one leg or both legs.as a captain he's certainly made a strong point with his success rate in ODI's & 20-20 & who can forget the 20-20 world cup win over pakistan.apart from that his looks also have some appeal.all in all he's a complete package.

so in my opinion he is certainly a great paler & an intelligent & aggresive captain with a very cool head on his shoulders.

It is all the effect ODI has on people. Dhoni is essentially a ODI player. He is not test class. The very word 'test' indicates that it is a test of ability and patience. Dhoni is a carbon copy of Gilchrist as far as ODI is concerned. He is the captain of the ODI team. He is also the captain of the T20 team which won a championship. He has a good personality. We should not compair MSD with Dada or Sachin.

They r legend players.

He has his own style 2 play the shots.

i always thought about dhoni famousness. and i read this somewhere that what God give to whom u could not change it... so God give Dhoni fame (i think he deserve fame but not as much as he get ) so we could not change it... same thing with in Pak with Afridi.. He the cricket most worst player ever produce but people of Pak always talk about him and love.. i hate him very much ;)

Dada and Sachin Pajji are legends and we are surely not going to forget them! But that doesn't mean that Dhoni is a bad player! Dhoni has his own style of batting and if he is comfortable in his style than no one can point a finger towards him! I think that he plays spinners very well, remember the Asia Cup final, Dhoni was the only one who played well against Mendis while all other batsmen failed and Dhoni also played well in the Kitply Cup when the other batsmen didn't perform! Dhoni is the palyer who has tried his level best in every match to save India! And please do not forget that Dhoni had scored 183 against Sri Lanka and holds a record for it too, i don't think that a sub-class batsman (as u said) can score so well against the team whose bowling attack is so famous all around the world! So Dhoni is a very good player!

And abt captaincy, people consider Dhoni to be a good captain becoz India won the T20 world championship under him! And i do feel that he is a extremely good captain,as of now, no one else can fit in as the captain of Indian team better than him. And abt Dada, Dada too was a very good captain....both had their won way, u can't compare them! U can't say that dhoni is a bad captain becoz he got the T20 world cup that too with totally a young team for India!

I completely agree to your view .I also don't understand why is being overhyped to such a great extent both by the Indian media and the public. Certainly he lacks that class in batting, which Sachin and Sourav has demonstrated for all these years!

Even the BCCI seems to be obsessed with  chanting the praises of Dhoni, as it recommended Dhoni's name for the Khel Ratna Award, when there were so many deserving players like Kumble, Ganguly, and Dravid for the award! It's the highest sporting honour in the country, the only person having recieved it being the great Tendulkar. Certainly, Dhoni isn't even close to Sachin's class. Then what's the justification of nominating his name when there are so many better players than him?

Well, Indian public certainly lack rational judgement! As a captain, the only significant victories of Dhoni are the T20 World Cup, and CB series victory. In the craze for Dhoni, the people not only neglect his shortcomings in batting, but also forget the contribution of the most successful Indian skipper-Sourav Ganguly. Anyway, Dhoni is still young, and his youthful vigour earms him greater popularity, while Dada Ganguly has definitely passed his prime! But Dhoni's youth isn't permanent either, and since he lacks sound technique, he will find it difficult to perform consistently as he gets older. So, perhaps, this Dhoni craze will also gradually fade away with time.
