Question:

Why are people defending Alicia Sacramone when she was an EPIC FAILURE?

I was actually just blocked by Alexa5678 because I mentioned that Alicia failed to execute 2 of her routines. Why can't people handle the truth? She did fail.

And why are there so many excuses for her. "Give her a break" and "Could you do better?" are childish responses. It's the OLYMPICS. You can't compete in the Olympics if you can't perform under pressure, so that's only an excuse to say that she is a failure. And there are a lot of girls who would've DIED to be in her spot, but she was chosen and she blew it MULTIPLE times.

She fell off the balance beam, she fell on her rump during the floor excercise, AND she stepped out on her floor exercise.

Why defend her? Why not just admit that she was a mistake? Defending her is just saying that America doesn't have Olympic-worthy gymnasts, and I don't believe that!

  1. i am defending her, not because she made a mistake, but because i know what she is capable of.  it wasn't her best, duh, and it's obvious she's angry at herself for it.  she's still a great gymnast.

  2. You're sick. Don't you think that Alicia Sacramone is beating down on herself enough? Statements like yours is what can make a person get so depressed that they might commit suicide.

Plus you aren't in the Olympics, lets see you even qualify for it. Once you actually GET to her spot don't say **** about her performance unless its on a positive note.

  3. o so lets see you go try that stuff! i bet you would do way way worse

  4. It's totally in the spirit of the olympics to make mistakes. Mistakes make you grow and give you a chance to prove yourself on the next Games.

They also show that even if your nation falls you get up and succeed.

On the contrary, that fall showed that America is imperfect but strong. Were not robots looking for perfection but humans looking for the best.

    Congratulations China.

    Go Team USA!

BTW- Our gymnastics team is very strong. Look it up. All of those gold gymnastic medals didn't just fall from the sky. The USA worked to get their reputation.

  5. Hey, how about you shut the h**l up!  You cant even do anythin that she can do!  Nobody wants to hear your retarted opinion on this matter.  She made a mistake, everyone is due for a mistake at one point in their life, so just let it be, idiot.

  6. All I have to say is, let it go!

Alicia Sacramone is a human. And humans make mistakes. But we learn from our mistakes which makes us grow. And prepare for the next battle. Mistakes make us fix what we did wrong. And hopefully, she will too.

You didnt see her crying because she was sad she wasnt going to get gold. You saw her crying because she was fustrated with herself. How would you feel if you practice something more than 3 thousand times and KNOW youve done it about a thousand perfectly. And then when the time comes where you been preparing for all this time, you fail simply because of one tiny mistake. Which ivolved into others that were huge.

Im not here to give her sympathy. But I am here to let people like you who dont understand anything about competition, that competition gets to some, and to others--its just all the excitement. She was fustrated because she knew she can do A LOT better. Just like Michael Phelps was fustrated that he didnt get a better time. He got gold, but he knew he could have won it a better way.

Silver for team USA is a great honor. and she knew that. She just wanted to do her part. Now please.

    LET IT GO!

  7. She tried her best! Yes she did make a lot of mistakes but whatever. they won silver and that part of the gymnastics is over.so now it really doesn't matter. what really matters now is that atleast they won something. anyway the all around ladies competition is coming on today so we should start talking about that instead.

  8. i bet u cant do better

    everybody makes mistakes

  9. We've all made mistakes but most of us have not fell on our asses at the olympics.  Hello, they sucked!!

  10. Genuinely you have to feel for her. As you said it is the biggest stage in the world and she screwed up.

The thing is, it's over now and you can't change it so you may as well be positive.

The American coaches and team obviously had confidence in her and she had obviously proven herself in the past to be capable. You can't predict how an athlete will react under the Olympic spotlight no matter how much training they have.

  11. I agree she did fail and made a COMPLETE floor out of herself. People will remember her as the "girl who fell (multiple times) at the Olympics". No one else choked like she did... at that level one MUST perform. Alicia performed like it was her first international experience. She didn't not perform like the veteran and  "team captain" that she supposedly is.

There are many pictures of her online partying/drinking. That just shows she didn't taking training/ taking care of her body 100% seriously. I think her arrogance and not taking care of her body finally caught up with her. It just happened to be in front of the entire world at the Olympics. This epic failure is something she will have to live with for the rest of her life.

  12. I agree with you. She did fail and there is really no excuse except that she can not perform under pressure. This is exactly what kept her from qualifying for the 2004 Olympics. She lost concentration/ was not consistent and fell off the beam there as well.

During the 2008 qualifications she FLEW out of bounds. During the team competition she fell of the beam, fell on her back on floor, AND stepped out of bounds. Those are multiple MAJOR mistakes from someone supposedly at the Olympic level.

Perhaps she WAS good in the past, but when the time came ( the important time) she could NOT perform. No excuses can be made except that she is just not good when it comes to pressure. She is not mentally or intellectually strong enough for such major competition.

The AA final was AMAZING and THRILLING that was a real gymnastics competition. Everyone did so well and successfully handled the physically, mental, and intellectual aspects of competition. Something Alicia Sacramone failed to be able to do.

  13. I agree with you.  She choked big time under pressure and it was nobody else's fault except her own.  She knows she screwed up but everybody is trying to make excuses for her.  There are none other than she choked.  That is a valid excuse.  I'm sure she's good at her sport because she wouldn't have made it to the Olympics otherwise but she failed AT the Olympic competition...plain and simple.

  14. People make mistakes all the time and you should support her anyways because a bet a million dollars you couldnt do it any better or your *** would be right where she was a couple nights ago.

And I believe ALL the American girls stepped out of bounds that night

  15. Until you make the olympics team and perform in front of billions of viewers, don't call her a epic failure.

  16. Ya, she choked, but Mathematically it wasn't entirely her fault.

Ya, its mostly her fault but we should not blame her fully for the loss of the gold medal

People fall under pressure, its natural

  17. Have you ever studied for a test that would practically determine your whole final grade?

Have you ever felt so nervous, like your whole future weighed upon your performance on the test?

She can't be perfect every day, they have their off days, and it takes it's toll even during the Olympics.

If you'd practiced for more then 12 years to be performing at Olympic level, and suddenly make one mistake, it ruins how you do everything all around.

You feel like all you've done was for nothing, and especially since it was for the team gold.

You feel like you let everyone down.

You try being on globally-viewed televison, and tell me how it affects how you play the game.

  18. Let me ask you a question.  When was the last time you were on TV, millions around the world watching you, the weight of an OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL on your shoulders, and you performed perfectly.  My guess is NEVER.  She had a lot of pressure on her, but look how far she made it.  She made it all the way to the Olympics.  That is an incredible feat by itself.  And not only that, they won SILVER.  2nd place is fine.  I realize that to some, silver means losing, but h**l if you want to look at it that way, then they beat the bronze team.  Get over yourself.

  19. she choked and its her own fault. no one else's but there is nothing wrong with that. everyone ***** up from time to time.

  20. cus shes hot.

  21. Yea! I got whip lashed for saying she let the team down and 30 people jumped on my back. Can't people just handle the truth. I don't get the sensitivity and over-defensiveness of some people. Some won't even admit the mistake saying "let's see you do better" or "you're just fat and ugly". It's crazy. No I can't do better but other gymnasts who are younger than her could have. The U.S. had an opportunity to seize when China messed up and they didn't because of two ridiculous falls. I think if she couldn't handle the pressure...she is old enough to let it go and give the spot to people younger than her.

Everyone feels bad for her yes but she disappointedd big time. When 4 other girls who had minor mistakes or Lastia Luinkin who pulled a 16.9 on high bars pull their best....everyone expects the captain and the eldest one to pull her weight.

To me, she was the weakest on the team but all in all a silver medal is nothing to be ashamed of. All the girls should be proud of themselves.

  22. Yes, she made a mistake.  But it was also her that saved team USA back in 2007 at Worlds, when Nastia "choked".

  23. I think calling her an Epic Failure is a bit harsh.  And as I recall, she was not the only gymnast to fall during the competition.  One of the Chinese girls also fell off the balance beam during the competition, or do we just forget that because they won the gold medal?  As for if she deserved to be on the Olympic team or not, yes she deserved to be there, just because she made mistakes does not mean she is a totally worthless gymnast as you are implying.  Anybody who has ever competed on any level knows that no matter how much you practice or how good you are will determine how you react in every competition, every situation is different.  And people defending her does not imply that American doesn't have Olympic-worthy gymnasts, we were awarded the silver after all. By your statement, evidently the only country with Olympic-worthy gymnasts would be China.  On a different day, the outcome could have been totally different, it just wasn't Alicia's day that day.

  24. Um...didn't the US still take home the Silver?

I mean, yeah she blew it, but the US still took Silver.  Its not like we didn't even qualify because of her, we just lost first place.  We should be proud of all our Athletes for doing such an amazing job so far!

But yes, she did choke.  Oh well.

  25. Can I just point out too that both of the other gymnasts on the floor routine stepped out of bounds so you can't just blame her for that. And also even if she had of nailed her floor routine and the pummel horse there was still a pretty good chance China were going to win anyway. She may have blown the chance for them to compete for the medal but she didn't lose the medal for them.

  26. I feel bad for her because I know she feels like she let the team down but to be honest, she did.

  27. people make mistakes, i've bet you have made a mistake before

  28. It's not that big of a deal, honey. I think she messed it up some, but it's not the end of the world for her and it certainly isn't the end of the world for you. Some people are huge fans of her, so they want to stand behind her if she messes up. What if everyone who watched the Olympics booed her and said she sucks, how much worse would she feel? The team liked her and chose her for a reason. If you don't care how she feels or could feel then you have no heart. Sorry. =[

  29.   Everyone makes mistakes. You should just learn to forgive and forget.  You dont even know her.  I'm sure you've made big mistakes before.  She already feels bad enough. Get OVER IT

  30. How can anyone judge World Class athletes without even knowing them personally or understanding what her previous championships and achievements were?  Defending her is a mature and responsible way of understanding that mistakes do happen and that even though they earned the silver medal, their performance so far was excellent, in light of china using "ringers"!

Why do you say that whoever is defending her and others that made mistakes is "un-American"?  I think you should look at yourself (you're probably as ugly as the Chinese "girls" gymnastics team.....) and stop being jealous of those that are famous and have celebrity status.

  31. having her on the team was not a mistake

    she made mistakes....it's human

I'm sure many people have asinine excuses for her....you're probably right

but generally, it seems to me like people just want to get people like you off of her back.

    she screwed up.......yes.........let it go

how would you like it if you worked your entire life for something, screwed it up on the biggest of stages, and a bunch of people thought it was amusing to bring it up over and over and over and over again.
