Question:

Why are people more concerned with the Cubs?

Why don't fans of other teams support their own teams rather than be more concerned with how one team is performing? The majority of these "haters" are fans of teams who need their support more than ever. I really don't mind the putdowns, but its just not registering why people hate another team rather than cheer for their own team.

  1. im a yankee fan. you are preaching to the choir bud

people just hate on teams that do well, especially when their team is not playing up to par..and since only about 1/3 of the league actually contends every year, the other 2/3 have fans who have nothing better to do than bash the teams that are contending for the playoffs

and when a contending team gets knocked out or misses the playoffs (i can already see the infinitely long list of disses from people if the yanks dont make the playoffs) they just get bashed for only doing better than 21 teams instead of 22.  its gotten pretty ridiculous

  2. I have nothing against the Cubs but there are some on Y/A who have become a little obnoxious & rude with their comments about the Cardinals & Brewers.  My team, the Yankees get same type of treatment saying the Yankees suck & this at many times from fans of teams with losing records or who don't ever make it to the post season. I think all fans should worry about their own team before talking smack about another team who may be better than your team

  3. cause they suck

  4. Since a majority of the fans that the haters of any team, whether it be the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, brewers or Cardinals generally consider saying "(insert team's name here) suck" to be an intelligent response to any question about that team, I would say it's mostly just a lack of understanding about the game.

I as a Cubs fan of course want the Brewers and Cardinals to get beat. And of course, I want my team to win. But, although I do have my loyalties as a fan, that does not mean that I can't appreciate the fact that the Cardinals and Brewers are both pretty good ballclubs this year. And certainly a true baseball fan, even if they happen to root for the Brewers or the Cardinals, should be able to appreciate the kind of club the Cubs have this year.

Unfortunately, most people who call themselves 'fans" of a particular team do not really know the game. That is why I prefer to refer to myself first as a baseball fan, then as a Cubs fan. (or maybe even as a baseball fan who just happens to root for the Cubs)

My absolute favorite haters are the ones that have absolutely no real reason to dislike a tem. Here in Chicago, we have fans of the Cubs who absolutely despise the White Sox, and the reverse is also true. Why anyone would be so concerned about the success or failure of a team that is not in their division, let alone league, is beyond me. (The same could be said about some other cities as well.)

For the most part, I simply write most of the "haters" off as people who just don't really appreciate the game itself. These are the types that we see here in Chicago during football season - the so called bears "fans" who would rather see the Bears go 2-14 for the season with both wins coming against the Packers then see them go 14-2 while losing 2 to the Pack.

  5. Biggest reason: People are self-centered jerks who love to pick on others when they are down. People see the Cubs and their fans as easy targets for ridicule and insults because they haven't won anything for such a long time, while their teams have had success in recent years. Event he teams that have yet to win anything still pick on Cubs fans because "its been 100 years"

In Chicago, White Sox, Cardinals and now Brewers fans get a kick out of reminding Cubs fans about how bad their team is as opposed to focusing on the sucess of their teams. When the White Sox won the World Series in 2005, nobody cared. White Sox fans were more focused on taunting Cubs fans rather than enjoying their success.

  6. Shutup you little crying beech!!! Your Cubs aint doin nuthin but losing, loser!!

  7. b/c i am a cardinals fan, and part of me supporting my team is hating the cubs, its natural.   We dont live in a nice warm, loving world where you want your rivals to succeed.  I wince every time i hear that the cubs have won and i hope they go 500 more years without a championship.  Even a blind squirrell finds a nut every once in a while, so i guess the cubs are blind and deaf and dumb????

Completely Useless By September, never could be more applicable and blatantly obvious
