Why are people rasist?

i don't get why people are stupid enough to hate people for the color of there skin...is it because of movies....where like maybe the black people in the movie are criminals...or what..I'm young and confused... plus who else is confused why people are being a$$holes about skin color?

I don't get why people continue to ask this stupid question over and over, perpetuating the myth that Americans can't get past it. It's simply not true, there are many of us that go through our day to day lives without making it an issue and we are quite happy. Meanwhile, the media makes the issue worse than it is, by opening up a dialog that suggests we are like this--in turn, creating doubt in your mind and leading to this question that is asked over and over. The only person you can change is you. You can stand up for someone, but you cannot change the person who has this viewpoint. That goes for black and white people both. (and any other race of course) You are going to have pockets of people wherever you may be that will feel this way...but they aren't the majority. As for the recent problems, let's face it, the election is the catalyst. As long as you aren't part of the problem, you can be part of the solution.

nobodys a rasist,but some are racist,maybe your too young to be worrying about this c**p,go get a girlfriend or play football,anything but sit at a computer talking rubbish on daft sites

Racism is a terrible thing, but I believe people are racist because of their upbringings.  Most people that are born to racist parents will become racist themselves because from an early age all they know about the other races is what their parents have said about them.  Children are brainwashed very easily since their brains are like a sponge at that age so it's very hard to get past their uprbringings.  

This is the same thing with religion. People that are not brought up christians have a much harder time having faith and becoming christians as adults.

Some might think these are some good reasons, but I don't. Racism is wrong, no matter how logical the argument. And just because some of these are government (.gov) statistics, it doesn't mean there isn't a conspiracy.

because they're ashamed of being whatever they are. there's absolutely no reason to be racist these days.

I'm not sure what "rasist" means. However, we have a similar word in English, "racist", and it used to refer to people who believe their race is genetically or inherently superior to others. Nowadays, it can mean virtually anything.

But it's not nearly as prevalent as it was in the past. As people live and work together as equals it is found that there is not really that much difference in individuals of different races; most people want pretty much the same things out of life.
