Why are people saying the Red Sox got screwed over

How can you say this? Manny and Bay are equivalent at this point in their careers, do not try to change this fact look at the stats. If anything, having Bay down the line for another 3-5 years, assuming he signs an extension, makes him more valuable. We gave up a reliever that no one trusts in the bullpen and a fourth OF type of player. How is this a bad deal?

  1. We gave up Moss and Hansen, but Moss really didn't have a position that he could play in everyday, it's kind of like when David Murphy played here, there just wasn't a place for him on the team.

  2. I think we made a good deal.  I am sad to see Manny and Moss go but it was for the best.

Plus if you really look at it Manny was acting like a baby in the end and he completely gave up on the Red Sox.

  3. True, as long as we keep Bay, he'll turn out better than Manny. But we gave up Moss and Hansen too. Moss had a nice career in front of him.

  4. The fact of the matter is that Manny Quit on the sox, and the sox quit on manny. He was gonna go sooner or later. They got the best possible deal at the time and personally i like the deal. Manny has been s******g us over for too long and i think this deal may be what they need to get back on track.

  5. ?

  6. I dont think the Sox got screwed. Manny is getting old

and that means he is declining, Jason Bay is still young and full of potential. The Red Sox not trading their most prized prospects makes it a better deal.

Moss was just a backup OF and Hansen was at best mediocre when pitching.....and i do think Jason will be better than Manny because he will run down the base not unlike Manny.

but im ready to get over the Manny phase and start watching Jason Bay in the OF.

  7. bay is no manny. and those too prospects are gonna be great

  8. I agree with you the Sox are in a much better position for the rest of the season and beyond and it only cost them a middle tier prospect a utility player and 7 million which isnt much for them.

  9. This is what I've been telling people, but for some reason people seem to think Manny is still a 40 homer, 130 RBI guy and that Hansen and Moss are 5-star prospects. Apparently, people don't care to look at the facts.

Edit: I will be shocked if either Hansen or Moss have great MLB careers. Hansen is trash and Moss is a 4th outfielder at best.

  10. this is a bad deal because we did not just trade manny, we also included brandon moss and craig hansen, two prospects.
