Why are people saying there are more women than men in the world?

Question

so many recent researches have concluded that men outnumber women in the entire population but so many people still believe there are more women, update your knowledge people!

Well the conventional wisdom was that men die younger and at a higher rate across all age groups.  We men tend to take more dangerous risks, work in more dangerous occupations, and have higher rates of some diseases.  

I guess the reason men outnumber women would probably be China's one child policy and the a few other cultures that prefer boys over girls and now have the technology to do s*x selection.
