Has this been your experience as well?

I think that there are many factors causing this to occur. But I would like to hear your views. Please share.

What do I mean "more angry?" Well, I mean as compared to say 20 or even 10 years ago.

  1. i agree! i work at a buffet style restaurant and while i was on break i was picking my nose... the manager said that was bad for customers to see but who cares ?  i'm on my break!

i was sent home that day ...

  2. i wonder the same thing myself, i thought it was just me..people are hateful and act so unhappy any more.. in my days neighbors would holler at you and come over to visit and bring you a cake or do something nice.now the world has changed and people have changed.......

  3. Parents are too busy to raise kids properly, so these kids today are rude, selfish, and have no sense of responsibility. People in general are too self-absorbed to care about anyone but themselves. Society has fostered the idea that "image" is everything, so people are obsessed with looks and material things....as a result they lack the simple courtesies and concern for others - even their own families.

  4. "Manners", particularly among the masses, is a recent concept in the course of human history.  People were always angry and rude, we just went through a period in the U.S. where it was expected that people would be productive, sympathetic, tolerant citizens.  Americans are no longer complacent.  Almost every person--as soon as they go to college or decide to become independent thinkers--will ask this question.  Once you think about the question thoroughly, you'll move on.  It's the kind of question that has been pondered for centuries.

  5. I think it has to do with the state of our economy.  Prices of things are sky-rocketing and our salary is not.  Many families are living in poverty, thus making them depress, angry, rude, etc. People living in a industrialize society are tempted  into getting those new Ipods, HDTV, new technology, etc, but many just cant afford it.

This is all part of living in a civilized society.  I bet you tribes in South America are not living with the so many problems we are facing.  Our society has teached us that everything is about money, and if we dont have it, this  affects people's mood.

  6. they have always been this way, you are just becoming more aware of it.

  7. i think a major factor is that people are more separate from others than in the past.  we don't rely on our neighbors, often we dont rely on family.  we view ourselves as separate from others... making it A LOT easier to be rude & angry.

  8. I think it is overall frustrations in things and that manners seem to "get in the way"

  9. it must be the stress, the price of everything, and the lack for following tradition.  there is so much to be stressed and depressed about, and people are rude because they lack tradition and discipline.

  10. I have a "Theory"; that it's because of the World's GROWING Population. And with More People, living Closer & CLOSER together- the LESS "Space" there is between Us, the MORE likely we're gonna get on each other's Nerves! And when You DON'T give People their "Space", they start getting VERY Cranky!!!  :(

  11. money rules ALL. our time management skills lack, people are so superficial now. we do not take time to smell the roses or say thank you bc we are so self centered and lost touch with what matters in life. most people are so side tracked w things that dont matter they forget to think about what does and to think about what they should be doing to keep themselves centered as good natured people. its sad.

  12. They really aren't. Most of your information comes through a media filter. What is reported is not at all what you find when you travel across the country. America is still healthy.

I cover 18 states in my job. It really is OK out there. Dont believe what is generated in New York for ratings.

  13. because of all the work and responsibility and  high price of things more people focus on that then focus on being kind to others

  14. Excellent question!! I ask myself this all the time. I'm trying to teach my kids to be polite, friendly, and help others when they can and it is a difficult task in today's world.

I struggle to maintain my inner belief that people are good yet they seem to consistently work to prove my theory wrong whenever possible. When I question my belief and start losing total faith-someone comes along and does something nice, simple yet so meaningful. Another "best revenge" is to do something nice for someone else.

I keep teaching my kids to be polite, cordial, patient, do nice things, etc. as the world NEEDS alot more people like that. We are above and beyond our quota of rude, mean, selfish people in the world today.

  15. With all the stress nowadays, caring seems to be too much effort.

  16. People are rude bcoz nobody cares 4 them. Take eg of a postman, labour, cab driver, etc., people with whom we meet everyday. Have you thanked them for the service they do. Just imagine how many had encourage them. If at least one of ten human starts behaving properly will definitely give good results.  Starting from morning thank your milkman and he will be happy, you will make his day in return he will give happiness to his other customers. In the same way be good to your servants, cab drivers etc and you individually would be able to spread love and brotherhood amongst at least 100 people. Imagine if 10k in a city do this in a day will make a million people happy and wipe out rudeness.

  17. People are far more busy now to even care about how they treat others.

  18. To me this is the same as s*x.  All of this happened ten or twenty years ago, it just wasn't spoken aloud as much.  Teenagers were having just as much s*x in the 50's as they are having today, it just wasn't publicized as often.
