Question:

Why are people so curious about secrets?

Book plots that have something unrevealed compel us to read on, conspiracy theories intrigue us, when we know someone has a secret that they won't share, we need to know that secret.

I believe that basically we have evolved with particular characteristics that have enabled our species to become enormously successful, so how does this particular characteristic help us?

  1. Like me,I'm curious about my friends secret.Because maybe i'm involved or whatever...

  2. Curiosity is a survival trait. At the "hairless monkey" level, the unknown may conceal danger to avoid or confront,  resources to exploit, and a possible source of shelter. On the human level, knowing about the world gives us some sense of our place in it, and a feeling of greater control over our lives.

I like to call what humans experience The Cookie Jar Effect. One of the best ways to get someone to pop the lid is to tell them not to.

  3. The reason is because its something "not allowed" to them, something that doesn't include them, thats why they are intrigued to know. If we are part of the secret we feel included and trustworthy, if we are left out of something then we feel curious to know what that something is. I personally dont mind being kept out of a secret and will accept that its not my business until i'm told otherwise, however, i still get curious, just like most people,, its only natural for humans to be like this...

  4. We hate not being involved and we as humans all desire to be God--in our own rights. A.k.a. All-knowing, and all-powerful.

And we want it all for ourselves. Which is why I like taking pens. :| Mine! >:D ....yeah.
