Why is it when you use the words of the Bible or the Wisdom of the Prophets all of a sudden people become so hostile?

Is not the Book of Proverbs one of the oldest books of wisdom? Is not the Song of Solomon one of the oldest love songs? Are the words of Christ and His message so different to any other elightened one? If I were to quote any "modern" philosopher that would be okay but when I quote the words of Christ and the Books He would have known there is an attack?

  1. I believe it's because Satan has such a great influence on society today, that he has made man hate anything Biblical. It's very sad, but very true.

  2. Because people fear that which they do not understand.

    Cheers.

  3. Religion is a load of bullsh*t, that's why.

People don't want to hear lies.

  4. words of the Bible and Christ = you can stone a disobedient child to death or sell your daughter into slavery!

  5. Simply put, it is the truth, and mankind would rather conform to his lower, deadly nature.

  6. So this group of youngsters was laughing at Methuselah. Not stabbing him or beating him up you understand just laughing at his baldy head.

And "God" sends a pack of forty bears to "rend them".

What a lovely deity you have there, any wonder we are all fighting each other today.

Stick your superstitious garbage where the sun don't shine.

Looks like none of the first answerers is getting best answer here. Har Har.

  7. I once set myself the task of reading the bible and for a confirmed sceptic it was heavy going. The over riding message I got from it was not about god but of simple human decency, they just wanted the same things then that some of us still want today, some humanity.

So why do your stop at religion Bull you try to ram every other opinion you have down peoples throats.

  8. Most people see the Bible as an outdated myth in favour of scientific knowledge, the more that we move away from G-D the less able we are to appreciate what having G-D in our lives really means the result is universal greed, war, disease, famine and hatred.

Perhaps we are destroying the world because we chose to crucify The HOLY JESUS instead of the Murderer Barabbas.

  9. Perhaps because deep inside themselves, they are frightened sick that it might just be true. And if it is true, they have an awful lot of lifestyle-changing to do - and they don't want to change.

  10. My opinion is that most are not offended by the actual words or the embedded message that is more often than not pertinent, but by the fact that those who often choose to deem themselves deliverers of such great news and wisdom are often hypocrites themselves (so called pick and choose Christians), yourself for example, a foul mouthed pot smoking drug user who promotes the use of drugs and communism amongst all, yet then resorts to preaching as his new outlet for self expression.

I personally don't believe in discussing the Bible unless asked to do so and never force my religious belief upon others unless they have attempted to force their beliefs down my throat.

  11. Because there are people who don't believe in it, Emjay.

I respect people who are religious and let them be.

But I don't like people that have to rub their religion into my face all the time and telling me that theirs (His) is the only truth.

Some react hostile to that kind of behaviour because they don't want to hear the 'words of Christ' and are annoyed by the constant trying to be persuaded otherwise.

  12. because its 2000 old bullsh*it

  13.
