Why are people so ignorant when it comes to health issues?

I posted a question a few days ago in here.

Stephanie answered and told me I had Lyme disease. With out knowing my complete medical history.

She also told me in her answer that Lyme disease was transmitted through sexual contact and or women's breast milk.

I responded that Lyme Disease was transmitted through the Deer Tick NOT sexually transmitted.

Stephanie then replied to me in my personal email as follows:

From: Stephanie

Subject: Lyme disease

Message: Lyme disease is sexually transmitted. You can do a wiki search to update your knowledge. It is also transmitted thru breast milk and from mother to fetus. And 80% + lyme tests are false postitives. MORON!

I own a medical company so I know what Im talking about

Well Stephanie,

Since I can't reply to you through email, I am replying through questions/answers.

First:

If you own your own company and you KNOW what your are talking about, why is it that ALL articles and brochures issued, state that lyme disease is from the deer tick?

Second:

Again, IF you say who and what you are, you wouldn't be calling other people names such as MORON, you would know how to spell AND use punctuation.

Causes of Lyme Disease

Date updated: May 02, 2008

In the United States, Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which is carried primarily by deer ticks. The ticks are brown and often no bigger than the head of the pin, which can make them nearly impossible to spot.

Ticks feed on blood, attaching to a host and feeding until they're swollen to many times their normal size. During feeding, ticks that carry disease-producing bacteria can transmit the bacteria to a healthy host. Or they may pick up bacteria themselves if the host is infected. In areas where Lyme disease is common, as many as 50 percent of deer ticks may carry Borrelia burgdorferi.

Deer ticks typically feed on the blood of mice, small birds and deer, but they can also feed on the blood of humans, cats, dogs and horses. They live in low bushes and tall grasses of wooded areas, waiting for warmblooded animals to pass by. Deer ticks are most active in the summer.

To contract Lyme disease, you must be bitten by an infected deer tick. The bacteria enter your skin through the bite and eventually make their way into your bloodstream. Before bacteria can be transmitted, a deer tick must take a blood meal and that can take more than 48 hours of feeding. Only ticks that are attached to your skin and are feeding can transmit the bacteria. An attached tick that has a swollen appearance may indicate that enough time has elapsed to transmit bacteria. Removing the tick as soon as possible may prevent infection.

So, I go back to my question:

Why are some people so ignorant?

Is it because I didn't pick her answer as the best?

Is it because she THINKS she knows ALL?

Will somebody please answer this for me?

  1. because the range of people who respond range from people who may be medical doctors to people who think they know everything but don't to people who are children from one end of the spectrum to the other to the other - that's the thing - ANYBODY can answer a question.   but every situation is on a case by case basis though.  There's some illnesses though that the proper answer may be a situation where the answer that is most correct goes against all the standard medical literature, but one where the doctors know very little and the person suffering through it a long time probably knows more than the doctors.  Certainly not the case here, but I know of situations like that.  Medical doctors know more than most people with common illnesses, but if it's a rare illness, a person who has been through it may very well know more.  so a lot has to do with the particular problem and all that.  The bottom line is you have to take the answers with a grain of salt and research things yourself.

  2. Okay.

One, EVERYBODY has had fun making fun of and or attempting to make fun of someone online that you don't know, that can't really hurt your feelings.

Chances of them saying that to your face? Slim. Because they can't see you in person, and don't know who you are, they aren't afraid of you coming to beat them up or something for angering and or pissing you off.

    Hope this helps.

  3. I can clearly understand your frustration it is due to a lack of education. They don't read or do any research. It's pretty scary that she owns a medical company and has no idea what she is talking about when it comes to Lyme's disease. I research everything, I also use different sites.

It's plain to see who the Moron is, I guess they will let anyone own a medical company.

  4. Lida Mattman, Phd, the author of "Cell Wall Deficient Forms: Stealth Pathogens, and former top microbiologist found that Lyme disease was found alive and well within breast milk, urine, and sperm samples.

As the story goes, when she started to go public with her findings, her publicly funded state-level lab was immediately shut down.

Secondly, there are studies that have been done, and are easily accessable on the web that show Lyme disease has been found in other vectors than just ticks. Flies, mosquitos, and fleas all carried the disease.

So you have a good question: Why is it that ALMOST all articles say that ticks are the only vector if studies found otherwise?
