  1. If they lack a belief in God, (minus the effort to believe the mainstream compliations of God and the church), and are instead believers of atheism which differs from anarchy, the disbelief in many governments and religious sectors (and conformity), then they are likely scientheists, who for the most part believe that humans and human souls are a repell/attract reaction that causes a constant heartbeat. So when this repell/attract reaction falls off center eventually or at some point due to the earth's shift of axis and gravity, the scientheists believe that is when the heart stops.

But enough about my opinion, and onto your question.

In relation to people becomming irritable when they are in pain, is because they are 'miserable creatures' and like to distort their reality to allow them to center themselves around their melatonin drives like it were a pot of gold basically to be able to allieviate their physical pain.

They also like to be very impatient with reality by distorting it to cause irony and laughter, and higher melotonin drives. This is funny!

But don't laugh at people in pain.

  2. Urrr....Dont irritate me like this.

Irritation always comes when others are happy and he is not.

Since, he is feeling pain within himself and seeing others (others mean, men, animals, or anything before his eyes) happy, the irritation automatically errupts. This is always normal for every oridinary men.

  3. The nature of pain is "attention grabbing discomfort," people who have their attention divided tend to have less patience and the less comfortable you are the less "friendly" you feel...

When you ask someone in pain a question it forces them to reenter the experience of the pain repeatedly, when they have nothing to distract them the impact of the pain is lessened...Its psychological, but then so is curiosity...

  4. I was surprised to find the question in the anthropology category. I feel that your question focuses more on the neuro-biological aspects of pain and its experience rather than its social and cultural aspects:

    1)  We know that serotonin is also an integral part of a pain-controlling pathway in the brain. Therefore, when in pain, a larger supply of an individual's serotonin must be dedicated to manage just that: pain. If the patient does not take anti-depressants (which are now prescribed in chronic pain managements programs), he/she will be prone to get irritable much easier than when pain-free.

    2) Pain and its experience has certain cultural and social aspects that can influence an individual's level of  irritability. Cultural perspectives including: Culture's attitude towards emotions' exhibition, the subject's narrative, gender roles, ...

I am certain there are more elements that can be discussed. This is a great question by the way.

  5. probably because they're trying to focus on getting rid of the pain and someone or something's really  irritating.  Wouldn't you be edgy if you broke your arm or something?

  6. I don't know how that would be answerable in terms of the topic anthropology.

  7. cuz they're in pain

  8. When in pain the total focus of the person is inward, towards himself, trying to relieve it any which way.  Since the feeling of pain is so unpleasant, he becomes snappy at any distraction...

  9. because when your in pain you cant focus on being patient..so they are snappy

  10. Because pain is a very uncomfortable sensation.
