Why are people so judgemental and hateful?

I was at the dog park today with my 3 dogs, 2 pits and a Chihuahua. An american bulldog and one of my pits started fighting, it looked to me like they were just playing rough, but everyone freaked out, i pulled my dogs away, and put the one who was fighting on a leash, and kept him away from the other dogs for about 45 min. i let him go after everyone calmed down and he was fine, about 10 minutes later the bulldog started fighting w/ another dog, close to where my other pit was laying on the ground. she got up, and got involved. i yelled at her, and she walked away, some guy said that is the second time your dog picked a fight, and i was like no, he was over w/ me, he ran over here when i did, he then proceeded to tell me it was my other dog, that was laying on the ground when the fight broke out. I told him politely he was wrong, and i was leaving anyhow. the bulldog was young, and probably just trying to wrestle, as there was no blood or over aggresiveness from any of the dogs. however, this man just couldn't keep his nose out of things, and had to jump to conclusions because of my dogs breed. My dogs are not aggressive, they are family dogs, i felt like telling him i was going to sick them on him... even though they wouldn't know what that meant! lol... or even better, taught them to pee on his shoe... lol But i am toomuch of a lady for his immaturity. as i was leaving, another patron of the dog park walked over to me and said that he was the only one who felt that way, and that my dogs were very nice, and he is sorry we were leaving. This made me feel so much better.

Well the guy was being a jerk plan and simple.   You had good control over the dog and the dog listened.  I tend to be a little nervous around pits, but only because I understand their power.  I also, however, tend to feel that a well trained pit with a good owner can be among the sweetest of dogs.   I'm glad you feel better after typing, everyone needs a good rant every now and then.  If you need more help calming down, I'm sure three tails would be willing to comfort you.

People always that. I walk my pit with a halti because she pulls me sometimes and I am very small and not very strong lol. People aways think it's a muzzle and that she is "vicious" and when I tell them it's not they don't believe me. It's rediculous. A cop actually told me I couldn't have her at the st. Patrick's day parade and I had to sit there and explain to him for like 20 minutes that she is not vicious. Just ignore him. Be happy that he is so ignorant and you are not.

The ignorance of people is infuriating. He obviously didn't know much about the body language of dogs and he obviously wasn't paying attention.

Whether or not you had a retriever or a pit, the bulldog was the common denominator. And if he had a l**k of common sense he'd have put two and two together a realized that the bulldog was the problem, not your dogs.

But either way, I'm sorry he was a moron.. They run a muck in this world.

every time i see a pit bull, bulldog, bull terrier, etc. at the dog park that dog always gets into it with other dogs...every single time!!!

i think pits are a beautiful dog breed and i am not afraid my dog is a mutt and she is mean to ppl but my family but my neighbour had a pit and he is the nicest dog ever! but my next door neighbour who has no animals is a total pain in the *** and b*****s bout anything and everything my or my neighbours dog Dode, ppl are SO ignorant.

I have dealt with people like that. The bulldog started the scuffle not your dog so go back to the park and have fun. don't let stupid people get to you

Wow, what a jerk! I hate people like that, always in other people's business! I hate how if somebody owns a Pit Bull everyone else freaks out! Any dog can be mean, but people always blame the pits! Ignorant idiots! Well, at least the other guy was nice :)

Sorry that happened, that's ridiculous.  If only you could've made your dog pee on him, that'd have been great.  Still, I don't know why people are like that, it's terrible.

Try  to not let it bother you. Sadly, in our not so perfect world you will encounter douche-bags like that!  

Good for you for not giving this person any ammo to fuel his fire. That made you the better person.
