Why are people so judgemental? why cant they just answer a simple question with a simple answer?

ok, ive been up all night and am rather tired and grouchy, but i saw this question in law and ethics, and someone asked a simple legal question, why couldnt anyone give her a simple LEGAL answer rather than passing judgement etc. why are people so petty?? its yahoo ANSWERS not passing opinions on "i hope he gets life" etc etc. i just hate it when people cant answer a simple question asking for facts...

Well, your question does not have a simple answer based on facts. It requires opinions, so here is mine:

I totally agree. It's happened to me before where people don't give answers, they just give a link where I can look for an answer (why would I be on Yahoo Answers?) or give me their opinion. I think people have a desire to forcefully express their opinions in a judgmental manner because 1. they don't have a factual answer 2. It makes them feel important 3. for some reason they have to get their extremely important Yahoo Answers points. The internet is an example of democracy run amok.

I know the question you mean. It's hardly a simple legal question but it is one that most people will feel very strongly about especially with society's current high rates of  crime which the authorities fervently deny. Most people would want him not to be bailed if he is any risk whatsoever. If there's enough evidence to arrest him for attempted murder he's already proved he's either a risk to the general public or a risk to a specific individual. Most people would want him to serve a very long sentence if he turns out to be guilty.

because it's not like it was a question about someone shoplifting. it was a murder,a life taken, lives ruined. people get offended about just hearing about it, let alone someone wanting to know if they can get a bail.

I don't think there is anything wrong with these people voicing their opinions, but they were also asked a straight forward question which they should have answered too!

A looming dilemma that faces members of the YA forum is that posting a question on a worldwide medium is bound to bring good answers as well as poor ones.  There is no type of screening to make sure that each member is experienced or has specific knowledge on the subjects and categories in which they answer various posted questions.  It's more like a free-for-all when publicly posting a question, a fact, or an opinion.  That's the way the forum is set up and that is the way it is utilized by members.  There is a freedom of speech for everyone here, not just the persons who have the "right" answers.  We must deal with it, although sincerely answering questions from a knowledge base will bring about some positive effects for a few members.

The question to which you refer is almost asking for opinions like some of the ones given.  I think almost everyone would be thinking the same thing about what the remanded person deserves.  But I can see your point that the answers don't help the person asking the question.
