  1. Instant gratification, everywhere you look. Be it technology, food, whatever... everything is a push of a button or a click away.

"Working" in the traditional sense of the term is borderline extinct.

  2. I have a great answer but I don't feel like typing it out.

    I'm gonna go watch TV

  3. Because they don't have to work hard to get by maybe? Its easier to survive nowadays, more entertainment, junk food, etc.  Back in the day you had to work you *** off for money.  Technology of today also makes things easier for people.  Maybe we were also raised differently than the generations before us.

  4. I don't know because they want to be ?

  5. ^^ @ keatykat  or whatever, we work in a public sector. State government. It is very hard to get fired from a government job. My boss is neither intelligent or popular with anyone. She just got lucky. Our job involves working with troubled youth, which she is good at, but her job also deals with a lot of paperwork. She is horrible at this...  She is an idiot, much like yourself and needs to step down and let someone else who can actually do this job take over. The woman can't even spell simple words like listen... I have to do everything and if I ask her for help, this woman has no knowledge what so ever on how to do anything. I am tired of picking up her slack. And we are talking about a person who has been here for 15 years. Everyone complains about her and hates this woman.  This woman has a poor work ethic and is a lazy piece of slob. This woman yells through the halls " I love p*ssy ". Can something be done about this..NO..not with a government job. I hate my job, but I can not afford to just quit.. P***k you, I bet you still live at home with your parents.

  6. I think it has everything to do with today's age and "conveniences" we have.  Not only technology but things today are not like they were (as much) when I was growing up...or my parents, etc.  (I'm 37.)

My parents were very educated and successful and could give us much; but they also put a work ethic in us; as did most of the friends and parents I grew up with.  Meaning, if you wanted something, you got a part time job and worked for it.  It made you appreciate it that much more.

Today, things have changed.  There is so much instant gratification between technology and just the nature of the world in general.  I look around at children today and wonder why they are running around with Playstation 3s, X-Boxes, iPods and wonder if they have any clue how long it took whoever bought it for them to work (after taxes; not gross income) to pay for those things..  Or if they are even paid for yet, as so much of this country is in credit card debt.  (Credit is sooo easy to get in America so I think that also contributes to "laziness"....people don't have to work "as hard" to get what you used to have to work for.)

Granted, I am not complaining or judging (or trying to sound like it if it does).  My point is merely in today's day and age things are far too easy to obtain which I believe has a direct result on laziness and not working hard as times used to be.

It is everyone's choice what they do with their lives anyway.  Nothing to do with anyone else.  But sadly, sometimes it does effect other people.  Especially if younger folks don't understand (like kids) why someone has something they want and their own parents choose not to buy it for them out of trying to raise them in a different sense.  Not good or bad....just what I believe is going on in life.  And why people in general have gotten "lazier".

  7. I think more people work hard for a living than the ones who can get by being lazy.  Mental fatigue has taken the place of some physical fatigue, but it's all work.

  8. I think technology plays a role in this answer.
