Surely if you are innocent, then what have you to fear?

I don't buy into this whole big-brother thing, the government are pretty incompetent, they would never be able to (or afford to) monitor our whole lives.

thoughts, chris.

  1. Because we do not trust the police or the Government to handle such information in a morally correct way.

And since when did being innocent ever mean you have nothing to fear?

It does not matter if they can't monitor all of our lives, they will still monitor far too much and for the wrong reasons.  And it will get worse.

  2. "...the government are pretty incompetent, they would never be able to (or afford to) monitor our whole lives."

Shhh...you'll disturb the paranoid with the truth; it's a volatile combination! lol

  3. Because people don't believe that it will be removed when they are proved to be innocent. This information can also fall into the wrong hands as recent evidence proves by this incompetent government loosing things. Brent P is right, they even know what you buy in Tescos.

  4. Every child should have a DNA sample taken and registered shortly after birth. In 20 / 25 years the crime rate will be drastically reduced.

  5. Although DNA is unique to each individual, like fingerprints, we all share common markers. The worry is  how many 'bars'  will they legally have to find a match with before a person is 'guilty'  Very easy to run a computer programme and pull the records of all those with similar markers.  will it be 5 bars? 10 Bars? 50 bars? And what about when a Court sets a precedent on 5 Bars? How many people will you share those with? What will be your right of appeal then?

  6. I don't have a problem with the DNA database.

I have more of a problem with the national ID scheme - simply for the reason that they don't seem very good at protecting the data they hold. But DNA - no problem

  7. Because DNA evidence is seen as the be all and end all of proving guilt.

And everyone leaves a DNA footprint wherever they go - including the innocent!!

  8. I have nothing to fear with a DNA database.I think it will be a good thing sooner the better.

  9. spit on ground and some one comes along and picks it up, then plants it on a crime, and you hear clank.

  10. How easy will it be to plant dna evidence that gets people falsely convicted with this database.

  11. When a law is passed in the UK it is on the statute books effectively for ever. This means that laws enacted now giving governments too much power will still be in place should a 'less trustworthy' government come to power. Would you really want your DNA made available to a future regime who you did not trust? Or perhaps being made available to regimes in other countries? Look beyond the now!

  12. They wont be getting mine. Many crimes are committed and no DNA is left. Whats the point its a complete waste of money. There's defiantly ulterior motives behind this idea.

  13. cuse then if they commit a crime in the future, and they leave DNA, they will get cuaght :D
