According to Wikipedia Georgia invaded South Ossetia and made the first move. Russia just defended its people. Why are people acting like Russia is doing wrong?

Is it anti-russian bias in the west?

  1. Because Georgia is a small, democratic country, and Russia has a long history of making up stories to justify their occupation and overtaking of other countries.  If they are allowed to pull this off, there will be nothing stopping them from going into other countries.

  2. South Ossetia is a city within Georgia which had Russian Civilians as well as peacekeeping troops. Georgia wanted to take "control" of there city so they decided to bomb it killing thousands of people including russian nationals and troops.

But I have agree... why is all the news making Russia seem like the bad guy for protecting its people? Isn't it the same thing that we did here in America with the "GLobal War on Terror"?

I had faith in our news people here in america, but seeing how one sided they are on A LOT of things makes me doubt them... it seems that they only show you what they want you to think...

  3. I respect, but I don't agree.

Yes, Georgia made the first move but still, even if Russia was trying to protect their citizens in South Ossetia, what acting authority does Russia have in that land? South Ossetia is not official Russian territory, it's Georgian territory. Even though they declared independence, it still wasn't recognized. In my opinion, just because a province has a majority of Russian citizens doesn't give you grounds to play with it as you please.

Another thing, Russia began to occupy parts of Georgia not involved in the conflict. Yes, Georgia started it, but they were just trying to put down a rebellion, Russia on the other hand made their point that they want to invade Georgia and make it theirs again.

All in all, I condemn Georgia for not letting the Ossetians secede like they wanted, but I condemn Russia more for taking this war to unnecessary levels.

  4. EXACTLY - Also the Georgian President has race crimes.

  5. No, it's not anti-russian bias in the west. Only in the USA and its open allies (UK,Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Czech Repuplic etc). In the rest of Europe people are more objective.

J, I'm sorry to tell you but this is not the first time that the US media have missinformed you. The same happened with the Yugoslavian wars, Afghanistan and Iraq. During the 90's when you heard Serbs, you thought that the Anti-christ had come to Earth. Kosovo was set "free" by the USA and now is the official center of the drug-dealers and the criminals of Europe. Afghanistan was set free from the Talibans and now is full of opium (heroin). Iraq was set free from Saddam and now both Iraqi civilians and American soldiers die there daily. I don't support that Karadjic, Hussein and the Talibans were not criminals but at least they thought that they defended their countries in that way. A coin has two sides. Unfortunately, the USA defend only their economic and geopolitical interests.

  6. This would be akin to England sending in "Peace Keepers" and issuing phony passports to confederate states during the US Civil War; all while simultaneously attacking the Union states for not releasing the confederates from the Union.

The nU SSR has imperialism on their mind again, it appears... be it Ukraine, Georgia... or other strategically and geographically important areas. Additionally, the threat that Georgia would be joining NATO; and potentially falling under the defensive missile shield appears to force Russia's hand.

Nothing is coincidence, or charity when it comes to the former Soviet state.

  7. russia was, and still is over reacting.

  8. Georgia has 2000 troops in Iraq and US wanted them to stay. When Georgia attacked south ossetia, they thought they had US back up and US weapons but they didnt expect russia be so powerful. I guess they brought this on to themself

  9. Wrong time and wrong move!!

Russia should not invade Georgia during Olympic Time. This showed Russian has n respect to Olympic Game. That is the betraying on the international convenance and human right. Whatsoever Russia said would be untrustable.

Russia got the wrong procedure. It should bring up that issue on Georgia invading O.S. to U.N. security council and demand U.S. to keep its dog. Georgia also got thing wrong. georgia should raise the issue to U.N. and asked Russia to back-off from O.S.

All mistakes are about efficiency and effectiveness. Doing things right and doing right things!

  10. you got it all wrong... Georgia was not the first one to attack, georgian troops went into south ossetia after intense shooting from ossetian side towards georgian villages for almost 2 months. that was a provocation from russian side, russians were trying to escalate situation and raise tension so they could try and get troops into georgian territory. Russia is aggressor, do not just trust wikipedia and russian sources and do not criticize georgia just because u feel oppositional towards usa and its politics.

  11.      In the first place Wikipidia is not an official place, anyone can enter anything, including something that's wrong.

Georgia wants to become a Democratic state and Russia wants it back within it's fold.

South Ossetia is within Georgia and Russia has no business crossing the territory of Georgia to enter South Ossetia.

  12. Western dogs and minions enjoy mental masturbation.

Chinese and Russian completeness of sovereignty cannot be challenged.
