Well now that IPL has started I don t think they will give much in charity but what IPL people can do is that they can donate some of the money earned into charity.

WHY USE INDIA AS AN EXAMPLE? india is the second fastest growing economy in the world...we can get rid of poverty ourselves since we already have 420 million middle class and growing...why don't u use Africa or Afghanistan as an example?

One thing you have to remember is that cricket is like a religion in India. THEY LOVE IT. In india the india cricket team can't go into public because they are scamped by fans. Watch the IPL games and you will see how many fans there are and how enthusiastic they are about the game. It's simple. They love the game!!!!!

Sorry mister but they have not wasted their money nor are they gifting it to the players. They are investing and want to earn more. This is business.

Yeah great idea,i hope they think of all the poverty in India whilst giving out all of those millions of dollars...

Why cant every single player allocate at least 1 thousand dollars each to various charities?...

Why because they are just as money hungry as the orphans in the orphanages.....

yes.if i have enough money then i must do something for the children who dare to dream for their bright future only for the lack of money.shame on those celebirties who are wasting money for thoes who already live in palaces.i am not proud to be an indian.

Those who do social work/ community work do not waste their money on tics.

Only those who afford go.

Also money gained from all this is also spent on  charity in some form or another.

And many countries are jealous of India just now. India is not all that poor any more, you know. And some form of poverty exists all over the World. I did see traces in both UK and USA.Ref :conditions of Katrina were worse than Tsunami hit areas.

it is just that people like to show India's poverty and not theirs.

nobody trusts the charities in India because all the aid and food given to them are swallowed up by the corrupt organizations who don't give one bit to the poor children or people
