Sorry to ruin the fun, but an ice age cometh

Phil Chapman | April 23, 2008

THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity.

What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.

Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

  1. modern humans managed to spread across the world during the last ice age. you are only looking at what would happen to north america (and possibly europe, but i doubt you are even thinking that far) arent you?

i really wish we were heading for an ice age, it would be A LOT easier to adapt to than the runaway warming that is facing us, the more likely the longer people dither and delay action.

you are adding your own small bit to this delay with your disinformation.

  2. Hmmm... So those hundreds and thousands of scientists who, say, have been actually *measuring* the temperatures over the last decade have all (a) gotten it wrong, or (b) are lying.

That would be the story of the century if true! You should nominate this guy for a Pulitzer prize!

Let's see. Phil Chapman must be some super scientist to be able to figure this out when all the geologists and other climate scientists have gotten in wrong. He must have amazing qualifications...

... hmm. A degree in Physics and Maths, a Masters in Aeronautics (ie space) and a PhD in Instrumentation. Hmm. Not a lot there about climate science...

Maybe his job means he knows more about climate science than, you know, the climate scientists? ... Hmm. He went into space. He helps companies that build rockets.

"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". He needs to work a bit harder than just take some photos of the sun.

  3. AHHHHHHH!

    Start building fires!!!

    I BLAME BUSH

  4. loved the movie.. but believe little what i read about anything on here haha

  5. uh oh. I see a lot of grant money drying up.

  6. I live in the tropics, a little global cooling would do wonders for my electricity bill each month.

  7. Try reading from two sources instead of one next time.

    One is the loneliest number.

  8. I highly doubt it, although in the area I live in I will admit we had one of the worst winters we have had in almost 15 years but global warming is real, I know because the past 15 summers have been getting more and more hotter each summer the area I grew up in on Lake Superior used to freeze over as far out as the eye could see, it hasn't frozen over once in the past 20 years, but hey, maybe your right, time will tell and I blame Bush as well, everything is his fault, and his fathers and his mothers, his grandparents, and his kids, and their kids

  9. I would like to say that no one knows what will happen in the future but only GOD knows.
