Why are plane tickets for March so expensive?

Ever since January I've been browsing the prices of plane tickets. In mid week of February around Valentines Day, I browsed for tickets for the end of February through early March and the total came to $233 (including taxes & fees). Now for March I'm browsing through tickets that cost at the minumum of $269 WITHOUT tax. I even tried to look for 3-4 weeks in advance and they're still expensive. To where Jan & Feb. were much cheaper.

Spring break, plus this year Good Friday and Easter are in mid- to-late March.  Lots of folks gonna be traveling to visit family for the long weekend.

March is a big month for Spring Break trips, so the airlines know that they'll have more people flying who will be willing to pay what they ask.
